How we met |
We met at a party of predominantly CU scientists. The party was held by a crew of Jay's scientist buddies, a few of whom Alyssa (a bridesmaid and Gen's friend since middle school) knew and so invited Gen to tag along to the party with her. At the party Jay walked up to Gen, introduced himself, making small talk that included his intense passion for weather and specifically flooding, then asked for Gen's number and left the party shortly after. She was immediately impressed. Jay waited the normal 72 hours and then called to set up the first date. Gen texted Jay a picture of a creek in flood stage before the first date.

Our first date...Jay suggested a walk in to see Boulder Falls in flood stage for our first date and the date proceeded to a very adventurous and vertical bush wack up the canyon to the top of the falls and then to an abandoned mine and poison ivy patches. After washing in the creek, Jay invited Gen the UU Spirituality on tap event, which means that several of the people at the wedding were also at our first date.
That night Gen called her sister and told her- this guy might be the one. Five years and many, many adventures later, we have decided we are in fact the one for each other. Gen on first date ignoring the the POSTED signWinter backpack to the Indian Peaks at

The engagement hike: we had decided to get married over the course of a few weeks, and hiked to a beautiful spot Jay chose as a surprise to officially get engaged.
Thank you to all of you who have shared this wonderful adventure with us!!
Without you we would not be together. We often talk about how important time with friends and family is to each of us and to our strength as a couple.
